It was a pretty anemic year for music, most of my time was spent listening to old albums, like Neil Young. Still, here’s some standouts:
My favorites:
- TV on the Radio – Return to Cookie Mountain
- Tom Waits – Orphans: Bawlers, Brawlers & Bastards
- Gnarls Barkley – St. Elsewhere
- I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness – Fear is on Our Side
- DFA – The DFA Remixes Chapter 1
- The Knife – Silent Shout
- Mission of Burma – The Obliterati
- The Rapture – Pieces of the People We Love
While I’m not a huge Yo La Tengo fan, their new album “I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass” had the best album title.
Albums that disapointed:
- DJ Shadow – The Outsider (apart from “Seein’ Thangs”, this album blew)
- The Streets – The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living
- The Scissor Sisters – Ta-Dah
