I’ve heard that I should listen to this band for damn near ten years and I’ve never bothered until now. I always thought the name was one of the coolest ever (named after a Theodore Sturgeon story) but something always kept me from remembering to check them out every time I fired up soulseek or went to the local record store.
I finally acquired a copy of “12 Point Buck” this week, which supposedly is their seminal album and indeed it is quite good. If you haven’t heard Killdozer before, picture the Melvins combined with Big Black in a perfect blend of sludgy hardcore meets post-industrial noise. Steve Albini was quite accurate when he described them as the one band that met his lofty standards.
I’d have included an amazon link to the album in this entry, but the only copy they had was selling at $45 for a used one. WTF indeed, at that price you’re better off downloading it from soulseek and sending $12 to Killdozer C/O Touch & Go Records.
