Killdozer is pretty awesome

I’ve heard that I should listen to this band for damn near ten years and I’ve never bothered until now. I always thought the name was one of the coolest ever (named after a Theodore Sturgeon story) but something always kept me from remembering to check them out every time I fired up soulseek or went to the local record store.

I finally acquired a copy of “12 Point Buck” this week, which supposedly is their seminal album and indeed it is quite good. If you haven’t heard Killdozer before, picture the Melvins combined with Big Black in a perfect blend of sludgy hardcore meets post-industrial noise. Steve Albini was quite accurate when he described them as the one band that met his lofty standards.

I’d have included an amazon link to the album in this entry, but the only copy they had was selling at $45 for a used one. WTF indeed, at that price you’re better off downloading it from soulseek and sending $12 to Killdozer C/O Touch & Go Records.

When there’s no future, there can be no sin.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

I really wonder what Kin Jong Il expects to happen. What type of crazy gambit is he playing? The Russians and even Al-Quaeda wore their intentions on their sleeves, but not Kim.

As Einstein said, “The release of atom power has changed everything except our way of thinking…the solution to this problem lies in the heart of mankind. If only I had known, I should have become a watchmaker.”

XBMC 2.0 kicks ass

Xbox Media Center is a robust, well programmed media player/dashboard replacement for hacked xboxes. If you’ve got a modchip’d or a softmod’d Xbox, I heavily recommend installing this software. It plays damn near any media file I’ve thrown at it, including quicktime and real media, because it uses ffmpeg and mplayer, two very well done media player codecs/players that are 100% open source.

It also has a kickass dvd player that does region free playback and supports pal conversion!
