RowTow Beer Of The Day - 03/08/02 - Great Divide: Hibernation Ale

“Hibernation Ale is an English-Style Old Ale/Strong Ale, with 8.1% alcohol by volume. It is a robust ale that is exceptionally balanced with a malty, warming character and assertive hops. Each fall, Hibernation Ale cold-conditions for three months to fully balance the malt and hops with the high alcohol content. Hibernation Ale has become a celebrated winter tradition. It is Colorado’s original strong ale – available each winter since 1995. Due to its complex flavor profile and high alcohol content, Hibernation Ale ages well, allowing many beer enthusiasts to cellar the beer for extended periods of time. Malt Advocate Magazine (10/98) picked Hibernation Ale as one of its favorite beers for cellaring up to two years, calling it “a beer so big you could fall in.”

RowTow Beer Of The Day - 03/03/02 - Flying Dog: Road Dog

Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, “Road” is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts. Original Gravity: 14.0 Plato Specific Gravity: 1.056 Alcohol by Weight: 4.8% Damn good beer. If you look at the label carefully, you will notice “no shit.” That’s now illegal in colorado and you will never see that label again. RowTow managed to pick up a sixer with that label (fairly rare as of now) last night. The new label will say “no censorship.” Read more about this fine brew here.
