RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/07/02 - Anchor Steam Liberty Ale

Original gassiness and well formed, enduring spongey head spark confidence amid the lightly golden amber body. Aroma shows fruity esters and bubble gum, accompanied by PNW citrus hops, while deeper fruits arrive later hinting at apples or pears. It’s lightly fizzy on the palate with an essentially smooth mellow medium bodied mouthfeel. The hop fruitiness is prevalent throughout, with light bubble gum malts. It turns dry later in the palate with a tangy citric finish, rounding into a well balanced blend of bittersweet citrus. The aftertaste holds together well.

RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/05/02 - Flying Dog: Horn Dog Barley Wine Style Ale

“This is by far the narliest dog in the yard. At 10%+ alcohol, you don’t want to mess with the Horn Dog. Brewed with copious amounts of prized malts and flaked oats, the Barley Wine is so strong that it has to be aged for several months before we can bottle it. Like a fine wine, it will continue to improve with age up to 2 years after bottling (If kept cool)”

RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/04/02 - New Belgium: Porch Swing Single Ale

Porch Swing Single Ale represents one other thing for New Belgium Brewing Company: a fairly noticeable departure in style for us in that this beer is definitely hoppy. Fat Tire, Trippel and Saison all have noticeable hops but Porch Swing is in the scale of a *c*mon everybody, get hoppy.* Hop flavors are standing in the foreground of this fermented painting, yet dedicated New Belgium drinkers will certainly notice in the background our signature swirl of fruity, estery aromas generated by an authentic Belgian yeast strain. RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/03/02 - Dead Guy Ale

“Gratefully dedicated to the Rogue in each of us. In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with Maierbock as the elixir. Strangely, the association with the Grateful Dead is pure coincidence. Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary “PacMan” ale yeast. It is deep honey in color with a malty aroma, rich hearty flavor and a well balanced finish. Dear Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops. Dead Guy Ale is available in 22-ounce bottles, 12-ounce 6-pack, and on draft. Measurements: 16.5 degrees Plato, IBU 30, Apparent Attenuation 77.7, Lovibond 8.”

RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/02/02 - Oasis: Blueberry Ale

This English style Pale Ale is enhanced by the generous addition of whole Oregon Blueberries, contributing to it’s dry finish.

RowTow Beer Of The Day - 02/01/02 - New Belgium: Biere De Mars Ale

Biere De Mars is New Belgium’s exploration of the classic French and Belgian brews celebrating the half-winter, half-spring month of March. Our bottle-conditioned version, however, goes where no BIERE DE MARS has gone before. After gazing at its cloudy, yet glowing orange hue, prepare yourself for a celestial collaboration of oats, wheat, barley malt and lemon verbena. All of which is set into orbit by unidentified flying yeast strains. Read all about this kickass brew here.
